After its cancellation due to the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, the Moses Lake Airshow team was ecstatic to receive permission to host a 2021 Airshow at the Grant County International Airport on Father’s Day weekend. After much deliberation, it was decided that the best way to format the airshow was to allow its attendees the choice of a walk-in or drive-in spot.

The Drive-In Spot allowed attendees to bring up to 5 people in a car, and up to 8 people in a van. Overheight parking was available as well for all vehicles over 7.5ft tall.

After the weekend event, attendees were encouraged to fill out a customer survey and provide feedback to the organizers for future airshows.

“It made it so easy for my elderly parents, young families, disabled people, people [with] breathing-related health concerns and everyone else in general to not have to walk quite as far,” said one attendee. “Air conditioning was readily available if needed. Tailgating was fun!”

Another attendee also responded positively to the layout, saying:

“The perfect ticket for a 74-year-old who isn't up for parking and walking a half-mile or more to the flight line. Please, please continue.”

While there were many challenges to overcome due to the nature of the pandemic, we are very thankful for all the attendees who came out to support aviation and the 2021 Moses Lake Airshow. We have already begun planning next year’s airshow and look forward to applying your generous feedback to next year’s airshow.

Save The Date: June 18 & 19, 2022
